Therapeutic ApproachesEach person, no matter what their history, deserves the right to hope and dream. I desire to journey alongside people and empower individuals to process and let go of their negative past experiences and start fresh: able to strive towards a brighter future, fully embracing who they are and what they have to offer the world.
I practice Biblical Clinical Counselling, that is relational and person centred. This basically means that I give each individual unconditional positive regard, and aim to be empathetic and genuine with my clients, while working within a Christian framework of understanding. I value each life as distinct and designed for a specific purpose.I truly do believe that if we can learn to heal the trauma in our lives and adjust our negative beliefs about ourselves we can walk in the freedom that Jesus offers us and step into who we were truly designed to be; living with purpose. Within this framework, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help individuals understand how their inner thought life affects their feelings and behaviours. Allowing us to delve deeper into our core beliefs and expectations about ourselves and the world. I also use an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and a Spiritual Based Focusing Oriented Therapy approach in relation to Trauma. Both of these approaches are effective in treating Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Grief and more. As a counsellor I am relational, and because I believe that each individual is unique, I am committed to helping you find tools that work specifically for you. I work towards helping individuals find tools to manage their mental health and wellness and then look at the root causes of what might be creating challenges for them. Together we address these root issues allowing long term freedom and healing to be found. |
Areas of Practice"Finding Hope Together in the Dark Places." - Jodi Thielmann I specialize in working with Women and Men in an Individual Counselling context and with Young Adults and Adolescents.
I work to help clients manage their mental health effectively and find wellness and growth in their daily lives. I also specialize in walking clients through various forms of trauma. My goal is alway to hold a safe space for my clients to process their feelings and journey together with them through all of life's difficulties. I truly do believe that real healing takes time, so I do not ascribe to a quick-fix or brief therapy model of counselling. Here is a list of things I regularly journey with clients through in their counselling sessions:
